As coaches and creators, the challenge of creating compelling content that resonates with your ideal client is a daunting yet crucial part of the journey. This process is often laced with hurdles: difficulty in establishing a consistent content creation routine, creating content that deeply connects with your target audience, and maintaining relevance in a fast-paced digital world. I am Kara Renninger, growth advisor, and scaling strategist at KRC, and we are here to help you navigate these hurdles.

Firstly, let’s demystify the term ‘resonant content’. This is content that directly speaks to the pain points, aspirations, and needs of your ideal client. It is content that doesn’t just register on their radar but compels them to engage, follow your call to action, and even convert into loyal customers. Content that resonates is a powerful tool in turning leads into lucrative business opportunities.

Step 1: Know Your Ideal Client

The first step towards creating resonant content is understanding your ideal client intimately.

Many of us have already done tons of avatar work about it and really researched who our ideal client is. But I will say that that is a never ending project that you should always be rechecking yourself, are you actually speaking to their deepest pain point in the content that you share. And that’s what really will resonate with your ideal client.

You must dig deeper than surface-level demographics and strive to understand their pain points, what they value, their goals, and even their fears. This comprehensive understanding can shape your content creation, guiding you towards producing content that speaks to your ideal client’s deepest concerns and needs.

Step 2: Develop a Comprehensive Content Strategy

The importance of a well-crafted content strategy cannot be overstated. A good content strategy aligns your business objectives with the needs of your ideal client.

Your content should not only provide value but also include strategic offers that nudge your audience towards making a purchase. You are in business, after all, and sales are vital. Remember to strike a balance between purely informative content and promotional content.

Step 3: Speak Their Language

One of the most powerful tools in content creation is language. The language and tone you use can either draw your clients in or push them away.

You must speak their language in a way that they understand and can relate to. This involves using phrases and jargon that your audience is familiar with and can resonate with. This is why understanding your client is crucial – it helps you speak their language and make a connection.

I was talking with a potential new client this past week. And we got to a place in the conversation where I wasn’t prepared the way the conversation went. And I listened to the recording back of myself and I said the word cool five times, I don’t think I really even say that in my day to day life very much. I was like “that’s so cool about your business” “That’s a cool opportunity.” If I had a little more preparation my list of words and the language that my client uses, I might have felt a little more comfortable and not said that things were so cool all the time.

Step 4: Deliver Value

Sharing value is a critical part of content creation. While it’s understandable to be protective of your ‘secret sauce’, holding back too much can limit the impact of your content.

If you give people something of value, and it makes a transformation for them, they are going to come back and buy from you they are going to stay engaged with your content, because you’re helping make a difference for them. So don’t be afraid to share your most valuable insights so that your ideal client can start to get a transformation now, even before they start working with you.

Offer your audience actionable advice that can lead to transformations, and this will foster trust. The more value you offer, the more your clients will trust you, and the higher the chances of converting them into paying customers.

“Resonant content directly speaks to the pain points, aspirations, and needs of your ideal client. It is content that doesn’t just register on their radar but compels them to engage, follow your call to action, and even convert into a loyal customer.”

Step 5: Be Consistent

Consistency is key to content creation. Regular content delivery establishes trust and credibility with your audience, and it also keeps you at the top of their minds.

Think about this, if you found an offer or something you think would really help you, you’re gonna go research that person, you’re going to check them out on social media. And if you see that they only posted once three months ago, are you going to believe that this person’s systems work? Are you going to buy from them to help you grow your business? I don’t think so. So if you’re going to work with clients, and you want to teach them how to be consistent, so that they can up-level in their business.

“Consistency is key to content creation.

You need to show up consistently. If you want to leverage storytelling, it is going to be a great way that you can make an emotional connection with your ideal clients. Who wants to hear just straight out tips all the time? Who doesn’t love to hear a good story? It’s really helpful to have your stories laid out for yourself. You might get clear on what your thought leader stories are like, what makes your business unique and different. Write a list of what they might be so that you can call upon them when you’re sharing content and really leverage those stories. And don’t be afraid to share the stories even there’s a little bit of embarrassment in it for you because it really just helps people connect with you emotionally. And somebody once told me that the people who are successful are never looking at the content of the people who are trying to get themselves to that place.  You’re showing up consistently, you’re using stories, you’re trying all the things, and they’re gonna admire that and so are your ideal clients. So leverage storytelling to help leverage your engagement with your audience.

Consistency does not only apply to the frequency of content but also to the quality and style of your content. Maintaining a consistent voice and standard in your content further cements your credibility.

Step 6: Engage With Your Audience

Content creation is not a one-way street. It is a dialogue between you and your audience. Engaging your audience and fostering a sense of community can significantly enhance the effectiveness of your content.

Engagement goes beyond just asking your audience to like, share, or comment on your posts. It includes responding to their comments, asking them questions, and even sharing user-generated content.

It’s like a relationship, if someone just tells you all about themselves and they’re never asking you about yourself, you’re gonna lose interest in the conversation pretty quickly. So don’t just be out there spouting out advice all the time or talking all about yourself, ask your audience questions about them, use polls, use calls to action to ask them to comment about something or tell you what they think, where they can give you advice. Everybody wants to be seen and be heard. So make sure that you’re engaging with your audience and giving them opportunities to engage with you.

Step 7: Analyze and Adapt

In content creation, what worked yesterday might not work today. The digital world evolves at a rapid pace, and it’s crucial to keep up. Regularly reviewing the performance of your content and using this data to refine your strategy can greatly improve the effectiveness of your content.

I’m all about making data-driven decisions, that’s how you scale a business. So if you want to know more about effectively using data with your content, you can check out my blog on making database decisions.
